Strategic Communications Planning Project

Introduction

Earlier this year, the City issued a Request for Proposal for Strategic Communications Planning Consultation Services to develop an internal and external strategic communications plan for the City using research to identify communications priorities, effectiveness in customer reach, brand recognition and perceptions, and strategic goals and objectives to guide the City's internal and external communications over the next 3 - 5 years.

The City received eight proposals reviewed and scored by a selection committee. Slate Communications was chosen because of its detailed plan, fee structure, and substantial years of experience working with local governments to create strategic communication plans.

Strategic Communications Plan

The City of Valdez is partnering with Slate Communications to create a citywide Strategic Communications Plan. This plan will establish communication priorities and goals for the next 3-5 years. It will clearly define the messages, priorities, strategies, and tools the City of Valdez will use when communicating with the community.

Objectives include:

  • Increase the use of consistent, clear, recognizable messaging and branding for all City communications
  • Achieve coordinated and consistent internal and external communications through "one clear voice."
  • Improve communication effectiveness and reach within the community
