Our department is a combination department made up on 10 career staff and about 35 volunteers. The department responds to over 500 calls a year.
Our main statin is located at 212 Chenega Street. This station is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We have 2 other station in our outlying area that are well-equipped, yet unmanned.
Our community has ISO (Insurance Service Office) Public Protection Class rating of 4/10.
The Fire Department is state registered for both Fire and Advance Life Support EMS (Emergency Medical Services). Our members have diverse capabilities. We respond to all fires with a variety of apparatus and conduct fire prevention. We have three ALS ambulances, two in town and one out at Station 4. Additionally members are trained in Swift Water Rescue, Back Country Rescue, Search and Rescue, Rope Rescue, confined space and hazmat response.
Training is a high priority for the Fire Department. Members attend and conduct many hours of training monthly.
If you want to visit the station come on in and meet the crews. We can give you a tour any day from 8:30am to 8:00pm. Our staff will be glad to show you around.
